Salt at Shoal Bay
I am so excited to share this home tour with you today. I stumbled upon Salt at Shoal Bay via Instagram last year and I still haven’t got it out of my system. I continually find myself being drawn back to the beautiful design of the three residence property. Even more, I am constantly trying to find an excuse to get my family across the world to stay there.
Not only does the design bring a bevy of inspiration, but the story is inspirational and meaningful to me as a designer and mother.
Purchased by a family who lived in the older 1970’s home until doing a full remodel years later. The property boasted beautiful Bay views, a great location, and serious potential. Working with an architect they did a full remodel using the design to emphasize the bight airy space and simple design. The all white walls giving them the opportunity to embrace the abundance of natural light. Simple and natural elements throughout the spaces provide a laid back, but stylish environment. The beautiful contrast of dark and light tones is warmed by the warmth of the wood and decor details.
I often think of the homes I want to design and live in and joke with Matt that I would prefer more windows than walls. He reminds me that I don’t want to live in a fishbowl, but I can’t help but want to be exposed to the light and elements of earth. The way they opened up the home to perfectly compliments their surroundings.
While we don’t have any plans to visit Australia any time soon, I am sure I will continue to find myself drawing from the beautiful design of Salt.
